Getting Started with ARM Cortex-M Microcontrollers
The low power usage, yet powerful computing power of microcontrollers like the ARM Cortex-M series really interests me. I've recently spent some time watching various tutorials such as this Embedded Systems Programming Course on YouTube.
After watching a number of tutorials and reading about how people got up to speed programming ARM Cortex-M chips I decided to buy a Texas Instruments Tiva Launchpad (C Series TM4C123G) and a copy of Introduction to ARM Cortex-M Microcontrollers by Jonathan Valvano.
Over the last week I completed the first three chapters - about a quarter of the book. It consisted of a very informative bottom up overview starting with electronics, digital logic, gates and proceeded to cover Cortex-M architecture and assembly language.
It's been a good read so far. No labs yet, but I'm looking forward to working directly with the Tiva Launchpad soon.
